What is a billing address?

A billing address is the address information associated with a bank card (credit or finance card), usually the address provided by the cardholder when registering with the bank. This address is used in many cases as part of the verification information for online purchases and other financial transactions.

When you make a purchase at an online mall and choose a credit or debit card as your payment method, you are often asked to enter your billing address. This address should be consistent with the information in your bank records. The main purpose of the billing address is to ensure that you are the rightful owner of the card, and to increase the security of the payment.

It is important to note that in some cases the billing address is also used as the shipping address for items shipped after the purchase. The billing address and the shipping address can be different if the shopping platform allows you to enter a different shipping address. However, during the payment process, the correct billing address is usually still required to complete the transaction.
